This song lyrically is a look at the universal experience of heartbreak seen through the eyes of someone who has built up the courage to reveal their own insecurities and flaws only to be met with disappointment. I wanted to marry those lyrics with a more upbeat, hopeful melody and arrangement celebrating the success of being honest no matter the outcome.
